Lansing Mayor Tony Benavides was one of the preliminary speakers during the "10th Annual Cesar E. Chavez Commemorative Dinner " on April 13, 2005. The Mayor has attended the annual event each year since its inception a decade ago. This year marked the second time he has addressed a crowd of about 1,000 attendees as Lansing's Mayor.
