Q: |
I
cannot retrieve my email because the server is rejecting
my password. |
A: |
This
error can be caused by a variety of incorrect settings.
First, double check to make sure your Caps Lock
key is off. All usernames and passwords are case
sensative, and should be all lowercase. If you are
sure your password is being sent correctly, double
check your username under your POP3 settings and
make sure it is lowercase. The username MUST always
be completely lowercase. Next, make sure the POP3
Server is specified correctly in your email software.
If you do not know how to do this, you can look
at the online help in most programs to find out
where to set your POP3 Server name. The POP3 Server
name should be set to 'mail.yourdomain.com', where
yourdomain.com is your own domain name. If this
is set correctly and you are sure your username
and password are set correctly, close and reopen
your mail software. If this does not get it working,
you will need to contact our Technical Support to
reset your mail password. |
Q: |
I
cannot retrieve my email because the server is rejecting
my password and giving an error of '-ERR POP lock
busy'. |
A: |
If
you are also seeing an error saying something like
'-ERR Pop Lock Busy', this means you did not successfully
complete your last connection to the server to retrieve
your mail, and the mailbox will be locked for 10
minutes. This happens usually when your email software
stops responding while downloading your mail, and
the server waits for it to respond. In this case,
simply wait 10 minutes and try again; the server
will unlock the mailbox and you should be able to
retrieve your mail again. |
Q: |
I
can download my mail just fine but when I try to
send a message I am getting a "Relaying Denied"
error. |
A: |
This
problem can be caused by a couple of things. First,
check your email software and make sure it is set
to check messages every 25 minutes or less. Next,
if you use Microsoft Outlook, you will need to set
it so it sends messages immediately when connected.
This can be done under Tools/Options/Mail Delivery.
Most email software sends messages after mail is
retrieved so this may not be necessary, depending
on what you use. |
Q: |
My
mail program keeps locking up while downloading
a certain message, and every time I retrieve messages
it downloads the same messages over and over. |
A: |
The
problem here is caused because your software locks
up before sending a signal back to the server to
hang up the connection. Since the server never receives
this signal, it keeps all of the messages in your
mail spool for the next time you attempt to retrieve
your mail. To remove the message that is causing
the problem, you can use our Web-based Email Tool
to delete the message (make sure your email program
is closed first before doing this). |
Q: |
I
am getting an error of 'Cannot locate server' or
'Unknown host' when trying to send or receive email. |
A: |
This
is caused by a DNS error. First, try to visit a
few known websites with your browser. If you get
the same errors, this means your Internet Service
Provider is having problems and should be able to
help you solve this problem. If you can visit a
few websites successfully, but still get the same
errors, double check to make sure you have the correct
POP3 and SMTP server names in your email software.
If you do not know how to do this, you can look
at the online help in your software to see how/where
to set them. They should both be set to 'mail.yourdomain.com',
where yourdomain.com is your own domain name. |
Q: |
I
can check mail just fine but when I try to send
mail I am getting a 'connection timed out' error. |
A: |
Since
you are able to check mail just fine but cannot
send mail, this usually means that your Internet
Service Provider is using 'SMTP Blocking'. This
means they are not allowing you to connect to an
outside SMTP (outgoing) mail server other than their
own. Hence, you will not be able to connect to our
server to send out mail. A workaround for this problem
is to set your SMTP (outgoing) mail server to the
server provided by your Internet Service Provider.
If you do not know what this server name is, please
contact their technical support and they should
be able to give it to you. |
